Thoughts & Prayers

This image was inspired mostly by the model, Margaret (who is my younger sister) after she texted me for the third time this school year that there was a code yellow (or red) and she didn’t know what was happening but she was scared. Another inspiration was the Sandy Hook Promise back-to-school video, in which kids are showing off their cool back-to-school supplies, and then they begin using the supplies to try and defend or help themselves while there’s an active shooter. This photo was taken in my mom’s classroom, where she has had many code yellows and many code reds. “Thoughts & Prayers” is the typical response to major school shootings, but that isn’t enough for the millions of teachers and the millions of students who have to be on edge at school.
