About the Artists

Kathryn Bowman is a photographer based in Northern Nevada’s Reno/Tahoe area. She works within
different facets of photography, including events, formal and casual portraits, film photography, archival photography, and creative portraits. With a focus on conceptual portrait photography, she explores social complexities such as mental health, gender identity, public issues, and self-expression. She creates individual sets which portray a scene that portraits may then be taken in.

Bowman became interested in photography in high school, where she took photo classes for three years before completing her Associate of Fine Arts in Photography at Truckee Meadows
Community College (TMCC). Her work has been exhibited in the TMCC Student Art Exhibition, where she won 2nd place in the photography category in Spring 2022, which resulted in that photo being displayed as part of the City of Reno, Center Street Windows Gallery in Downtown Reno, NV. Her work has also been exhibited at the Reno/Tahoe International Airport as part of the TMCC
Student & Faculty “DepARTures” exhibition in the Spring of 2023, as well as in the TMCC Student Art Exhibition of 2023, before her first collaborative show at The Depot in Sparks, NV with fellow artist Brock O’Brien in December of 2023. Bowman had her first sculptural pieces in the TMCC Student Art Exhibition of 2024.

Bowman is actively working at Truckee Meadows Community College as a lab assistant in courses Photography of Art & Artifacts and Advanced Photographic Practices. She uses her new found downtime to explore creative hobbies in crochet, clay, coloring, and more. She plans to continue creating physical and digital art, with future collaborations with small/local artists.
