Self-Induced Solitude

I took this picture in the Black Rock Desert, where I set up a “depression bedroom” (a room that’s visibly unkept and/or messy, usually because the individual is depressed, and it takes far too much physical and mental energy to clean up). I created this scene with bed sheets, stuffed animals, dirty dishes, dirty clothes, etc. from my apartment; I wanted the room to be in the desert to represent a sense of loneliness and solitude that tends to accompany depression (at least for me). I seclude myself, because although I have a great support system, there’s a sort of comfort in being alone, to fully feel like no one is perceiving and judging me amongst my mess.
